E-Z Breathe®
Improve indoor air quality and basement ventilation.

The E·Z Breathe® System is a maintenance-free unit that helps protect your home and family from excess moisture, molds, toxins, allergies, and poor air quality.

Most homes have a closed loop basement ventilation system that simply recirculates the same air in the home over and over again. This causes a buildup of contaminants that will become hazardous.

E·Z Breathe® creates an exchange of stale air for fresh air, thereby creating a healthy atmosphere.

Facts About Wyoming, MI

Wyoming is one of the western tier of townships of Kent county. It is bounded on the north and northwest by the city of Grand Rapids and the township of Walker, on the east by Paris, on the south by Byron, and on the west by Georgetown, Ottawa county.

The soil of this township is diversified, a portion of it, extending from the northern, northeastern part of the township in a southwesterly direction, with a breadth of about two miles, and a length of about five miles, has a gravelly soil, timbered with burr and white oak. It is not principally under cultivation, and is especially adapted to wheat growing. Adjoining this, on the westerly side, are the Grand River bottoms, varying in width from one-fourth to one-half of a mile; and on the east is a large swamp and open marsh. Parts of this swamp are densely timbered with cedar and pine, with an occasional island hemlock and maple. East of this is a large tract of sandy openings, timbered with white and yellow oak. The soil is light, but affords a fair quality of farming lands. South of this is Buck Creek, with its bottom lands; adjoining which on the south is a strip of pine, of about one mile in width, extending from the south line of the township in a north, northwesterly direction, to within about about two miles of its western border. South of this is a strip of beech and maple land, varying in width from one mile at its eastern extremity to three at its western.

Buck Creek enters Wyoming from the south, about the center of section thirty-six and flows northwesterly, entering Grand River on section seventeen. This stream affords three good mill sites within the township, which are occupied as follows: One by Fisher’s Saw Mill, David Fisher, proprietor, on section twenty-seven; another by Dewey’s Saw Mill, on section twenty-one, Egbert Dewey, proprietor; and the third by the Wyoming Flouring Mill, at Grandville, H.O.Weston, proprietor.

Plaster Creek enters Wyoming from the east, on section twelve, and flows northwest, leaving the township just before it reaches Grand River.

There are numerous small bring brooks throughout this township, one of which, entering it from Paris, on section one, and flowing west into Plaster Creek, affords water power for running the plaster mills.

As of the 2000 census, there are presently 10 types of industries in the city. Manufacturing accounts for 30%, retail 16%, education, health, and social services 15%, with the next five industries accounting for 6%, and transportation, warehousing, utilities accounting for 3% of business in the city. The manufacturing segment is unique in that it is the largest in West Michigan. It currently produces auto parts, industrial machinery, commercial printing, plastics, food processing, electronics, tool and dies, concrete supplies, and fire engines.

After Grandville allowed development of a new 6-anchor shopping complex, Rivertown Crossings Mall, and the related development, many major retail businesses in Wyoming folded, including long-standing Roger’s Department Store, its successor, and most tenants of Rogers Plaza. The city of Wyoming formed a Downtown Development Authority in an effort to help support the city in keeping businesses in the area in 1999.

In the 2000s, plans were being made to revitalize the 28th Street corridor. In 2013, the City of Wyoming introduced the 28 West plan, a plan to develop downtown Wyoming along 28th Street into a more pedestrian friendly environment that will provide food, retail and entertainment. In June 2016, plans began moving forward on the 28 West plan with the demolishing of part of the Wyoming Village Mall and the creation of a new road through the surrounding parking lots to attract developers.

Through the 1800s, Wyoming would primarily remain an agricultural location and its development occurred near transportation routes in the region. The area that is now the city of Wyoming was the second location settled by European-Americans in Kent County. Robert Howlett, Luther Lincoln Amos Gordon and Stephen Tucker were some of the first settlers in the fall of 1832 with many settling near Buck Creek. Lincoln built the first log shanty in the area in the fall of 1832 while Tucker and Native Americans constructed the first established house for his family in March 1833.The first settlers had a successful harvest, constructing gristmills and sawmills on Buck Creek a year later in 1833.[ In late 1835, the first wedding occurred with Sylvester Hills and Harriet Burton.

Wyoming is located just on the edge of the snow belt, where more snow tends to fall from lake effect snow coming off Lake Michigan. The lake also helps the area east of Wyoming in keeping warmer than usual. The record temperature in the area was 102 °F (39 °C) as its high in June and its low was set in January at −22 °F (−30 °C). Sunshine tends to be around 46% of the time with 43% of the year of temperatures reaching at least 65 °F (18 °C). Almost 40% the temperature dips below 32 °F (0 °C).
